Our Story

Unilokomotive Limited manufactures the Unilok road / rail wagon shunting locomotive used for moving railway wagons, carriages or locomotives. Uniloks are purpose-built rail yard workhorses that travel as easily on road as on rail, they carry out shunting tasks that locomotives 4 to 5 times their weight would do, but with greater mobility and at a fraction of the cost.

Since Our Beginning…

…we have been designing and building Rail Shunters that are one of the most efficient, versatile, cost-effective machines on the market. Today, there are over 2,500 Uniloks in over 80 countries, from port terminals in the Russian Artic, to cement plants in the Malaysian tropics, to train and carriage repair facilities in the UK.

Unilokomotive Limited, was setup in Germany in 1958,moved to Ireland in the 1970’s and have been based here ever since, our machines are fully manufactured and assembled in Ireland, the Unilok design has stood the test of time.

Starting with the Volkswagen powered weight transfer machine weighing only 5 tons back in the 70’s to the 30 tons plus machines being produced today Unilok has continued to develop the most modern machines for today’s market.

Unilok today is represented by agents throughout the world and continuing to strive to produce the most advanced Road / Rail shunters.

The battery powers shunter capable of pulling 1000 tons and working up to 5 days on a single charge is the latest development for Unilok.
